Purpose-Built for Glazing Adjustment
When glazing a window, door or fixed frame, the glass unit often requires a small amount of controlled movement so that it can be centred, squared and properly supported. The Bohle glazing shovel gives the installer a dedicated non-metallic working head for these adjustments, together with the familiar grip and leverage of a wood-handled hand tool.
- Position glazing units: Apply gradual leverage when adjusting glass within a sash, door or frame.
- Place setting blocks and packers: Raise the glass slightly while the correct support material is inserted or repositioned.
- Assist with toe-and-heeling: Support controlled diagonal packing adjustments where permitted by the frame and glazing system.
- Work around delicate materials: Use the plastic head where a hard metal edge would be undesirable during careful positioning work.
Sturdy Plastic Head, Ergonomic Wood Handle
Bohle combines a sturdy plastic working head with a brown beech wood handle. The 66 mm-wide head provides a practical contact area for incremental adjustment, while the 275 mm overall length gives the installer useful manual leverage.
This configuration is well suited to glaziers who prefer the feel of a traditional wood handle while retaining a plastic working surface at the point of contact.
Why Use a Glazing Shovel?
A metal pry bar can concentrate force at a hard edge and may damage glass, coatings, insulating-glass spacers or surrounding frame finishes if used improperly. A clean plastic glazing-shovel head is better suited to controlled glazing adjustment, although the tool and contact area must still be kept free of grit, glass fragments and other abrasive debris.
Recommended Method of Use
- Inspect and clean: Check the plastic head and wood handle for damage. Remove dirt, glass particles and other abrasive material from the tool and work area.
- Position the head: Carefully place the broad plastic end beneath the appropriate edge of the glazing unit, setting block or packer.
- Apply gradual leverage: Press the handle smoothly to raise or shift the unit only as much as required. Avoid sudden, excessive, sideways or twisting force.
- Support and verify: Insert or reposition the required blocks, release pressure gradually and confirm that the glass is correctly supported, aligned and secure.

Important Use Guidance
This is a manual positioning and blocking tool, not a load-rated glass-lifting device. Do not use the shovel as the sole support for a glazing unit. Use suitable glass-handling equipment, safe lifting practices and appropriate personal protective equipment. Never work with cracked or chipped glass, and discontinue use if the head, handle or connection between them is damaged or loose.
Complete the glazing setup: Pair this tool with the appropriate setting blocks, glazing packers and shims for the frame, glass and installation method.
